You signed up for hosting at a great promo price. Two or three years later an invoice lands in your inbox for triple that number, set to auto renew in a week. If that just happened to you, take a breath. You have options, and you have more time than you think.
Why The Bill Jumped
Almost every big host advertises a deep promotional discount that only applies to your first term. The renewal reverts to full list price. It is legal, it is in the fine print, and it catches thousands of small business owners off guard every day. GoDaddy is the one I hear about most, but they are far from alone.
First: Do Not Panic Cancel
Your website and often your email live on that account. Cancelling before you have somewhere to go takes your business offline. Instead, turn off auto renew so nothing charges automatically, and note your renewal date. That is your deadline, not today.
Option 1: Call And Negotiate
Retention departments exist for exactly this. Call, say the renewal price does not work for you, and ask what they can do. You will often get another year at a discount. This buys time but remember the same jump comes back next cycle.
Option 2: Move To A Host With Honest Pricing
This is usually the better long term play. A comparable plan at Hostinger often costs less than the renewal you were just quoted, and SiteGround is my pick when performance and support matter most. Both include migration tools, and moving before your renewal date means you pay the new host's price instead of the ransom.

Make This The Last Renewal Shock
