Cloudflare Pages
Cloudflare Pages is where I deploy the majority of small-business sites I build. It’s free for most use cases, absurdly fast because the site lives at the edge, and the security posture is better out of the box than any shared host I’ve ever used.
Setup time
About 10 minutes. Push to GitHub, connect the repo, done.
Real-world numbers
A static Astro site deployed to Pages lands at Time-to-First-Byte under 100ms in most US regions. Compare that to shared hosting, which I regularly measure at 800-1500ms.
Verdict
If you’re building a new small-business site and the stack is static or Jamstack, start here. Get started via my link.
- ✓ Global CDN with hundreds of edge locations
- ✓ Unmetered bandwidth on the free tier
- ✓ Git-based deploys with preview URLs
- ✓ Built-in DDoS and WAF protection
- - Functions have a request duration cap
- - Best for static and Jamstack, not a drop-in for legacy PHP
